DEBRA S. BOYD, Ph.D
                                                    African Studies Consultant

Debra S. Boyd is a three-time Fulbright recipient and was awarded lecturing/research grants to Senegal, Niger and Mali.  She received the B.A. in French from the University of Iowa, the M.A. in French Literature from Rutgers University and the Doctor of Philosophy in Romance Languages and Literatures from the Ohio State University.  She has taught and served in administrative positions at several universities in the US and in Africa including Wake Forest University, Abdou Moumouni University in Niger, Winston-Salem State University, the University of Mali, and now teaches at North Carolina Central University.
Dr. Boyd has published extensively.  Her first book (co-authored with J.H.Scott), Camel Tracks: Critical Perspectives on Sahelian Literatures, was published by Africa World Press.  Her other publications have appeared in refereed journals in the US, Europe and Africa.  Her documentary film series, Genius of the Sahel, has been screened on television networks and at film festivals on the African continent.  Dr. Boyd is an internationally recognized scholar who has made presentations to diverse audiences on a global scale.  During her Fulbright years and beyond she has lectured, conducted seminars and teacher training workshops organized by the American Cultural Centers in several African countries.
Her training in evangelism led her to serve in campus ministries at Ohio State, Bowling Green State, and Wake Forest universities.  She received her Field Missionary license from Bible Way Churches Worldwide under the leadership of the late Bishop Smallwood E. Williams and remains actively involved in outreach initiatives.  Today Dr. Boyd continues to serve the nations as educational consultant, cultural ambassador and Christian tentmaker.
